Our classroom for 2011 has undergone and will undergo some changes this year.
We are accomodating four age groups and three developmental planes. JMM(8), RMM(6),LCDM(2) and MAM(1).
I've trawling other people's blogs to get some idea of how to set up a Montessori classroom with so many ages in play. I basically decided that I need a set up, any set up and develop and adapt as we go.
The multi-drawer cabinets at the top are for JMM. They house her word study activities. Many if not all of these activities have been purchased from Montessori for Everyone or will be as needed.
The next shelf down has multidrawers too. These drawers house the beginning sound objects for RMM. Many of these objects have been found in the bottom of the toy box or purchased from various discount stores. They are not all phonetic in this activity. I do need to credit My Montessori Journey for some fabulous ideas and inspiration, that at times I just adapt to my storage space.
This shelf also houses the multidrawer cabinet for THE FARM. The small box on the end are the handwriting cards for JMM. These were supplied from K-3 teacher resources and are in Victorian Modern Cursive font(used in victorian schools).
I try to keep the Victorian Modern Cursive font in most of my materials as I'm hoping to use these for the resource component of myMontessori Diploma(which is currently on hold).
